What’s in a song?

I looked up the definition of an anthem and here is what I got;

anthem

If you never got the chance to attend Gayaza high school, or your sister, girlfriend, girlfriend’s friends or your cousin didn’t go there or your mother or grandmother; then you probably haven’t heard the beautiful anthem.

It’s a long-ish one. Three stanzas…but it is one of those that doesn’t praise the school like many do. In fact it says nothing about the school; instead, it praises theeee maker of all things, lest we forget.

Here goes:

Give thanks to the Lord, because he is good…

His love is eternal!

In peace and war, in fire and flood…

His love is eternal!

In time of plenty and times of need…

Trust him, you will find him a friend indeed…

His love is eternal, so never give up!

Give thanks to the Lord, because he is kind…

His love is eternal!

In light and darkness, he has you in mind…

His love is eternal!

In time of failure and when you succeed…

Trust him, you will find him a friend indeed…

His love is eternal, so never give up!

Give thanks to the Father, give thanks to the son…

His love is eternal!

Give thanks to the spirit who makes us one…

His love is eternal!

Lord of the future and Lord of the past…

Now and forever he will hold you fast…

His love is eternal so never Give up!

~~

Nooooooow, everything about this anthem is pretty much what we all needed to make it through the two / four / six years depending on how long you were there. Did I mention my favourite line was ‘In times of failure, and when you succeed…trust him you’ll find him a friend indeed’? *insert laugh* That was surely my best line after beginning of term exams when the moment of failure showed face. 🙂

What I’m saying here is, at the end of the day, God’s love really is eternal! Through whatever.

In other news, Happy Christmas month!!!! Happy end of year month!!! Page 12 of 12! Finally! Cross over safe!
