10,000 and then some. :-)

The first song I heard this morning was 10,000 reasons (Matt Redman). As in literally, first song. And no, it wasn’t even on a playlist I had paused before I slept off last  night. It was just there, playing on the radio station my parents normally listen to in the morning. It’s not even an english station…mostly plays luganda / Ugandan music and rarely church music…so my shock when I heard this song play!!!! I literally stopped to take it in! I honestly asked my soul to bless the Lord, even for that particular coincidence…first song in the morning when I was still so sleepy, probably sleep walking my way to the bathroom.

It got me thinking, I have 10,000 and 1 reasons. And these don’t even have to be huuuuuuuge like I made it to the list of the world’s rich, famous or recognised! The mere fact that I was awake, in perfect health and everyone in my household was already up and about…..10,000 reasons and then some!

10,000

There is so much we take for granted waiting for the BIG thing to happen so that we finally acknowledge God’s goodness! Maaaaaan! There’s so many reasons to bless the Lord. Things like recovery from what we thought was our last blow, moving on, progress, picking oneself up, friends’ achievements, being able to bless other people…those are some of the things to bless HIM for! *insert appropriate emoji*

If you don’t know this song…..how?????? I joke, I joke. But yeah, look it up. However, the verses get me each time.

Here you go….

The sun comes up, it’s a new day dawning
It’s time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass, and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes

You’re rich in love, and You’re slow to anger
Your name is great, and Your heart is kind
For all Your goodness I will keep on singing
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find

And on that day when my strength is failing
The end draws near and my time has come
Still my soul will sing Your praise unending
Ten thousand years and then forevermore

10,001
